Position Title: Supply Chain Manager- New Product Development
Responsibilities:
The purpose of this position is to support new product development (NPD) teams by utilizing a combination of outstanding project management skills, a proven ability to integrate and function in multiple cross-functional development teams, and supply chain expertise across multiple commodities to drive successful supply chain execution for new products. This position will work closely with external suppliers, and will function on teams consisting of buyers, project and design engineers, sales and marketing professionals, and quality personnel both domestically and globally.
Responsibilities include:
- Manage NPD projects through completion by working with Design Engineers, Marketing, Quality Assurance and Materials. These personnel may be members of a new product team, or personnel outside of a sanctioned team.
- Gain a working knowledge of our NPD procedure, EST9 and be able to apply it to NPD projects.
- Prepare and present NPD deliverables per EST9 to all levels of the organization, including senior staff, at formal and informal meetings
- Manage start-up inventory and materials planning with appropriate personnel to drive service levels without excess inventory.
- Negotiate supplier long-term agreements with a focus on performance, cost containment and inventory reduction consistent NPD project strategy.
- Assess supplier capability, cost benefit analysis, issue resolution, risk prevention and contingency planning.
- Liaison between Suppliers, Quality Assurance, Engineering and other groups as necessary to support NPD project implementation: effectively drive task completion through non-reporting functions to meet NPD commitments
- Assess and effectively communicate to senior management and team leaders technical risks, business requirements, deliverables and schedules supporting project initiatives.
- Analyze technical data, designs, preliminary specifications, manufacturing limitations and supplier facilities.
- Coordinate efforts between suppliers, Engineers, Quality Assurance and Procurement personnel to facilitate material substitutions and standardization of purchased materials.
- Travel to suppliers and internal manufacturing facilities to review facility capabilities, quality systems and facilitate technical reviews. International travel will be required. Travel requirements are expected to be roughly 20%
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- 5-10 years related experience
- Bachelors degree in Engineering required
- Purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment with strategic responsibility for procurement/planning of mechanical components.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) preferred
- MBA or advance technical degree desirable
- Outstanding project management skills, preferably within New Product Development teams. Must be able to meet multiple commitments in cross-functional team environments under tight deadlines. Comfortable working in a matrix environment
- Highly developed Organizational and analytical skills.
- Ability to work effectively with all levels of management.

- Experience with multiple facets of manufacturing of components (die casting, sand casting, stamping, machining).
- Personal computer with knowledge of Microsoft Power Point, Excel, Word and Project management.
- Must be able to travel domestically and internationally (roughly 20%)
- Effective at driving accomplishments within, and outside of, established NPD teams without reporting authority.
- Ability to successfully manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
